Meeting program:

• Core skills training – Personal Earthquake Preparation – Part 2

Presented by Team 0:

Michael / AE7GQ

Overview:

This is a continuation of the earthquake preparation topic from our June meeting.  Part of our preparation efforts need to focus on arranging and securing items in our homes so that they do not become hazards to our survival, and our communications equipment remains operational.  This presentation will give you ideas on simple steps you can take in your home to better survive earthquakes.

• Briefing – Discussion-Based Drill

Presented by Team 0:

Steve / WA7PTM

Overview:

This session is pre-event briefing about the upcoming “5th Saturday” drill on July 31, 2021

• Advanced skills topic – Putting Together a Well-Developed Packet Radio System

Presented by our guest:

Jim / KN6PE  (EC – Cupertino, Santa Clara County, California, ARES)

Overview:

Packet radio remains a viable digital messaging system in Clark County, and it augments our other digital radio capabilities.  Jim Oberhofer is the developer of the popular Outpost Packet Message Manager client software.  He has helped Santa Clara County (California) ARES/RACES build out a robust packet radio system which that group uses on a regular basis.  Jim will tell us more about the nuts and bolts of that system and how they use it during incidents and exercises.
