Core skills training – Tactical Communications Techniques
Presented by Team 6:
Elliot / N6EAR
Overview:
Communications within ARES/RACES typically falls into two categories, tactical messages and formal written traffic. Tactical communications facilitates the transfer of information between stations (a radio net, for example), but can also be used to summon emergency assistance (police, medical, fire, rescue, etc.). In these instances, lengthy radio conversations may make the situation worse, so one must be concise, and this presentation will provide pointers on how to do just that.
Training Objective:
Familiarize members with “best practices” when conducting tactical communications during an emergency or disaster.
Training Reference:
Tactical Interoperable Communications Field Operations Guides (from multiple jurisdictions).
